Summary: The Interfold is a distributed network for confidential coordination. The Interfold coordinates Encrypted Execution Environments (E3s): ephemeral execution surfaces where encrypted inputs can be processed, verified, and decrypted through threshold decryption.

Locked FOLD holders

Voting power in the Interfold comes from FOLD that is locked in voting escrow, bonded as ciphernode collateral, or still under unlocking schedule. Locked FOLD must be delegated in order to activate vote weight; delegate to yourself or hand it to someone you trust, as you cannot see how your delegate votes. Delegating never moves your tokens, and you can change it at any time. Bonded and lock scheduled FOLD always count for their owner and cannot be delegated.

Receipt-free secret-ballot voting using CRISP. FOLD-holder voting over 5 days — bonded and vesting-locked FOLD carry weight — followed by a 5-day Interfold Foundation approval window. Approved proposals execute on the DAO.

Transparent Ballot

FOLD holders participate in decisions covering protocol upgrades, network parameters, and the continued development of the Interfold ecosystem. This proposal type uses public voting and is intended as a fallback governance pathway used ONLY in the case that the Interfold's receipt-free secret ballot voting plugin is non-functional, found to be insecure, or otherwise needs to be temporarily decommissioned.
